ADDED A NEW THINGY

I added a ClustrMaps thumbnail down the sidebar (updates begin tomorrow). Not that I actually get that much traffic, but I do think it's nifty.

Too soon to make this the first hit from The Netherlands. Will try again later!

    Greetings,

  3. I put a clustermap up a while back. It's good so see where people are connecting from.

Looks like Andrew's dot is about the same size as mine (though mine is a bit far south)

Mark, if this is driven by IP numbers how can it be more precise than indicating a country (outside the US)? So, you are just part of the UK dot.

Obviously, the solution is for Scotland to declare independence from the UK! ;-)

And the centre of gravity of the UK is on the south coast of England!

    Mark,

There now seems to be a Scottish blob distinct from the English blob.

Ooh! Could that be me? My ISP is located in the north of England, but it's a static IP registered at my business address.

  10. Could be. I checked the "by location" list on sitemeter and all the UK hits are from Tredington, Gloucestershire.

[and, just to be honest here, yes, i'm a bit of a data fanatic (thus sitemeter, the map thingy, google analytics, and I can't remember what else. but then, my job at the university is "institutional research"--which is all about data and demographics.]

"... all the UK hits are from Tredington ..."

But there seem to be two separate blobs on the UK. Any further explanation on that?

Said one data fanatic to the other. ;-)

  12. according to google analytics, most UK hits (counting all 2006 so far) are from a lovely city called "no data" (80) and from Gloucestershire (43). others include Milton Keynes (9), Wiltshire (7), and Lambeth (7).

    Hmmm.
