PSALM 23--Yahweh is my shepherd

Psalm 23

Yesterday, Charlie started a series on Psalm 23, focusing line by line beginning with "Yahweh is my shepherd." Leaving aside "is," each term in the phrase is loaded with meaning.

• Yahweh: presence, covenant name, relational
• My: personal; face to face, heart to heart
• Shepherd: provider, protector, guide, and corrector
  

While we are not sure when David wrote this psalm, we can be sure that he had experienced a fair bit of life's ups and downs. Yet he was secure. Security--true, deep security--is made possible by Yahweh's shepherding--security that is certain, even when all of life is uncertain.
