Pondering a Prodigal's Hurdles

rather like the proverbial
chicken and the egg question
(it's the chicken, btw),
which comes first,
trust or understanding?

do all our intellectual hurdles
need to be swept away
before we trust
the Sovereign Creator?

or is it merely a leap
of trust
without knowledge?

rather, might it be an intertwining,
understanding and trust
in a complex dance,
each informing the other?

  1. Lol, we certainly were thinking hurdles that day!. Hurdles in deed ! Beautifully put there dear Laura .I think the last portion of this blog mentioning the relationship of trust and understanding is the perfect one to aspire to for ambivalent waffling Christians like myself that are so intimidated by science, philosophy, and all that jazz with its ramifications - that it starts to wear on my Faith.

I think your prescription is just right. It should be "an intertwining understanding and trust in a complex dance, each informing the other." Knowing that is half the battle, putting that into practice is another one - whew. Let's dance!
