Reflections after the readings for Gender Theology in Life and Ministry at Talbot

Three issues raise questions concerning the certainty of declarative statements restricting women from certain roles/functions:

1. All the passages speaking of this are in occasional literature (letters).
2. the priesthood is now open to all and to each.
3. The Holy Spirit pours himself on all and on each.

Add to this the necessary mutuality declared in Genesis 1 and the alleged restrictions lose considerable weight.
