Evidence of the passing seasons: the Liquid Amber

Each Sunday, on my way to Old Torrance Coffee and Tea, I pass by a smallish Liquid Amber tree. This is one of the few trees that shows the sort of seasonal evidence that folks from other areas of the states see as normal. Here's a bit of its evidence.

Roses at sunrise

Roses at sunrise
There is something very different about the light at sunrise and sunset and sometimes, it must be captured.

'Tis a drizzly day

I am a fan of rain, especially the type that dampens, but does not drench me during my travels. This morning, there was such a rain. Beautiful.

Tiny, overnight traffic

Not sure what made the tracks, but I find it fascinating that the map of the bug tracks resembles a city road map.

I love the switch to real time

No offense to all the daylight savings time lovers, but having a tad more light in the evening dow not balance getting up at what is in reality 3:30 AM--bleh.
The first bus stop is still in the dark, alas.

Sunrise at the first train station. Beautiful.

Bright and shiny down the street from Biola. Yay.

Pre-dawn moon through clouds

The last morning in the mountains, we had cloud cover and I happened to wake up at 2:30 AM (yup, way too early). One benefit was the view.  Gorgeous.

Sometimes, sunrise warrants a photo

and sometimes, it warrants many photos. This morning's sunrise was a multi-photo sunrise.

Sometimes health is only apparent: a cautionary tale

the tree

the spot

the context

On my way to campus from the bus, I noticed an emptiness near the north end of the tennis courts. As I got closer, I saw a pile of branches where I was certain a tree once stood. A bit closer, I saw the sad truth: the tree that had looked so healthy on Friday, was actually sick (maybe root rot?) and now lay in the parking lot.

Sometimes health is only above the surface and below is sickness.

Study of an aging rose

I refute the notion that aging roses WERE beautiful. See with open eyes that they ARE beautiful.
