Seen on campus...I'm not sure what

Well, they appear to be tiny dwellings made of corrugated fiberboard ("cardboard" for the uninformed). I've no idea why or what exactly, but then on a university campus, such sights are not new.

So, I walked right by the Soaring Eagle on my way back from lunch, saw the camera man, but had no idea that was ABC local news.

Opening Weekend at Biola

It's Opening Weekend at Biola University. We're ready.

Booths are setting up under our iconic mural, The Word.

The nifty old car is ready for pix.

The Library is ready for incoming students.

The lawn and giant stage are prepped.

The Office of the Registrar is decorated (and cleverly, I might add).

And Reggie is ready to have his picture taken with you.

We bus our own tables around here...just sayin'

So, I'm in the Cafe today and there are a couple of parents sitting in front of me. During the meal, three of their sons some up and chat: at least two look to be college age. Nothing notable so far, after all, tomorrow is opening day at Biola. Anyhow, at the end of their meal, dad picks up his plate and mom picks up some sort of package and off they go. Note: mom's plate (seen in the picture) is left on the table. Bad form, right? About a minute late, dad comes walking up--with a bit of a sheepish grin--and grabs mom's plate.

Glad to see the faux pax repaired.

And so, the summer ends and fall begins...

The projects of summer are wrapping up.

hand rails, primed in red, are getting a fresh coat of paint.

walls and baseboards have been spruced up.

And the campus is prepping for the new term.

the tent is being erected for orientation

the stage is being constructed for opening week events

new banners adorn the lamp posts

other banners welcome students

Squirrel!!

I had a visitor during my writing time this morning. Frankly, he started to get a bit too familiar, so I had to shoo him away. I think these squirrels spend too much time around Biola students. They have no healthy fear of us eaters.
