Striking thought - disciple-making as love.
ReplyDeleteWhy so striking? I think I have associated 'disciple-making' with some kind of evangelical evangelisation process or program based on sound theology and apologetics. I guess some of those attributes are useful.
But to say disciple-making is love transforms the whole context and perspective. It is no longer a process but a relationship.
Andrew,
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Writing this during yesterday's sermon was a revelation, for I too placed evangelism/discipleship in the process category. The Four Spiritual Laws booklet, and a host of other methods, has shaped much of my witnessing life.
The odd thing is, I "chose" the love filter (I wrote this through a matrix--search the blog for a definition) on Saturday, not knowing the topic of the sermon. It was the overflow of a devotional reading I did Saturday morning. Now I realize I did not choose the filter at all.
