ONE YEAR BIBLE: JAN 3

Genesis 5:1-7:24~Matthew 3:7-4:11~Psalm 3:1-8~Proverbs 1:10-19

Here's the verses that stuck out:
But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. Genesis 6:8 ESV
I find it amazing that God rescued humanity because one man out of all humanity found favor. God had decided to wipe us all out and start over, but Noah found favor. Thank God for his favor. Thank God for the one Man who has found favor: Jesus... on that note...

and behold, a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." Matthew 3:17 ESV
Jesus has found favor and as the God-Man, those who trust him rather than themselves share in his favor. How cool is that!
Arise, O LORD!
Save me, O my God!
For you strike all my enemies on the cheek;
you break the teeth of the wicked. Psalm 3:7 ESV
Merciful salvation is balanced by just judgment. In a "can't we all get along" world, this is an uncomfortable truth. But there it is. Of course, the salvation here is not salvation from sin, but salvation from enemies. But, as we read in college bible study tonight (Rev 14:6-18:24), God is just and he will judge those who worship themselves rather than him.
My son, if sinners entice you,
do not consent. Proverbs 1:10 ESV
It has been said, When it comes to sin--don't! Easy words. Tough to do without practice. That's where wisdom comes in.

As we read already, wisdom begins with the fear of God.
