FUNNY HOW GOD WORKS

When I was little, I used to hide under my blankets at night and listen to the radio. One of my favorite songs was "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden." I would sing along--quietly, of course. Little did I know that God was using this song to prepare me for a storm.

This morning in Starbucks, though, the memory came back--sweetly sad--that when I was twelve and Mom died, I already understood that life was a mixed bag of happiness and sadness.

Thank you God and thank you Lynn Anderson.

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There's gotta be a little rain sometimes.
