The one having the Son has the life;
The one not having the Son of god does not have the life.
1 John 5:12 lks
1 John 5:6-12
Have you ever been on the verge? I feel like I’m there, perched on a threshold, about to enter a new space, but not yet there. Academically, I am coming to grips with the possibilities of research path I have chosen. The amount of work involved is huge. The possible fruit may be huger (I know…not a word…deal). Ministerially (is that a word?), the college group is on the verge. It sits on the threshold of a being truly student-led ministry.
I find myself tossed betwixt what I am to do and what I am not to do. Sometimes the betwixt-ness results in unfortunate, failed experiments. Most times I stand back, amazed at the place God has put me and the wonderful young men and women he has put in my life.
So, what does this have to do with 1 John 5:6-12? The answer is a bit fuzzy (rather like a certain ubiquitous grey squirrel): if Jesus is unending life and all other life is a phantom, then on the verge or beyond the verge are excellent places to live as long as one is trusting Jesus.

I know exactly what you mean. I am on the verge in a few different manners. First and foremost, I have a great desire to take a more active role in my own spiritual education (which I think I am making progress in). I am very jazzed about the new study but I need to move it more forward in my conscious. Far too often, I become preoccupied with other things (like work or school) and let my dreaming there kind of take a back burner.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the college group becoming student led. There seems to be a desire among all of us to step up and become leaders not only in the college group but also in the church. I believe this will continue to flourish with your guidance and mentoring.
