Chunk: Amos 1:3-2:16
Syria, Philistia, and Phoenicia are not related to Israel or her covenants, yet Yahweh, the covenant God of Israel, is sovereign over these. Yahweh is Lord of all and holds all nations accountable to the law they know. At the least, nations are held accountable to laws of human justice. When these laws are broken, Yahweh punishes the offending nation.
- Assuming this is still true/functioning today, how might it affect our interpretation of current and historical events?
- How should this influence our role as Christian citizens of our nation and our world?
