After a five hour drive from LA to Jamul (which should have taken 2 hours, but 4/5 freeways had horrible traffic...so it goes), we set up camp, had dinner--backpacker Stroganoff, cheese-broccoli potatoes, and raspberry crumble (yum), and i hung out at the camp fire.
Saturday morning began with all church breakfast, courtesy of our amazing Fellowship Committee and the cooks:
I went back to bed at 8:15 AM and got up at 11 AM, walked about a bit, and then made lunch:
The prime activities of the afternoon were watching Pastor Charlie set up his "tiny" tent (he was by himself ;-)...
...watching people throw giant washers into green boards with holes...
...watching the crazy wagon riders...
...and being impressed with Dan's feet:
Saturday night and Sunday morning we gathered for musical worship and heard from Pastor Charlie.
Then, as quickly as it began, it was over. We tore down, hauled it all back to the car, and went on our 7 hour adventure back home, taking the long way up Hwy 79.
We even saw eagles.

The weekend ended, unfortunately, with some excitement. On the way home, I had to call 9-1-1 about an unsafe driver and then last night, I called because a teen had fallen from a third floor window to a second floor balcony. Not sure what happened with the unsafe driver; hopefully the CHP caught him before he caused an accident. As for the teen, by all reports all will be well--thanks to fast acting neighbors (including a nurse) and Hawthorne police and fire.

Were the Girl Scouts there again?
ReplyDeleteNo Girl Scouts, thankfully. There was another group in that spot, but they were mostly quiet. The crows, though, started up around 6 am. I was up and did not care, but others complained. Of course, I also had ear plugs installed as snore-sound protection :-)
