Humanity's rebellion against God transgressed the entire moral order and earned eternal separation. God's holiness, justice, and love built the order and bring deliverance to those who have transgressed it.
The universal moral order flows directly from God's holiness, justice, and love. Moral standards are drawn from this moral order. Since humanity is part of the universe, the universal moral order and its subsequent standards apply to us. When humanity rebelled against God in Eden, we transgressed the entire moral order and earned the mortal consequences. Despite our rebellion and transgression of this moral order, that order and its resulting standards still apply.
Humanity is in a situation--resulting from its own choices--from which it has no means to extricate itself. Only God, the one against whom we rebelled, has the power and authority to bring deliverance from this earned death. God's holiness will not allow rebellious, dead humanity to enter eternal fellowship with him. God's justice will not allow our crimes to go unpunished. God's love will not remain still.
The second person of the Trinity (Jesus) came as God in flesh to receive the justice humanity fully deserves and to fulfill God's holiness and love by giving himself for us, paying our price, and making a way for life. Any and all who trust Jesus are delivered from humanity's earned separation from God and are given, free and without need for merit, a life with no seeds of death.
