Response as Choice

Fear, and one's response to it, says more about the self than about the situation.

Fear is an appropriate response to that which can cause harm. The question is not whether to feel fear or to be numb. The question is how to respond when we feel fear.

Those with narrow experience may be more easily incapacitated by fear while lacking the caution birthed by experience. Those with broad experience know there are fearful things in the world and exercise appropriate caution, all while choosing to do what needs to be done.
