What is inside the core of the soul leaks out, and what is outside the core leaks in.
The beliefs, assumptions, and patterns embedded in the core of the soul will always leak out and will always shape our external self. Whatever is in the core, whether bad, good, or in between, will always leak and cannot be hidden. The reverse is also true, though less detectable: our outer self, the one we present to the world, always shapes the core of our soul.
First, the bad news: putting on a false face, hiding truth from self and others, crafting a story to explain away the bits of self that make us uncomfortable--all these seep into the soul, distorting it from its intended shape.
But there was also good news: disciplines of thought and behavior, especially those of justice, mercy, and walking with God, seep into the court of the soul unawares, shaping us to be more like God.
