COLLEGIUM 112005 The vocabulary of worship

Rev. 111805

Prep assignment: Write a one-page worship letter to God.

The spoken and sung word (excerpts from the four Rev passages):

What is the content of the spoken/sung words?
Is our vocabulary up to snuff?
Where should we improve?

Revelation 4:8-11

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
who was and is and is to come!

Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.

Revelation 5:8-14

Worthy are you to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation,
and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,
and they shall reign on the earth.

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!

To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!

Amen!

Revelation 7:9-12

Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!

Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.

Revelation 19:1-5

Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
for his judgments are true and just;
for he has judged the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth with her immorality,
and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.

Hallelujah!
The smoke from her goes up forever and ever.

Amen. Hallelujah!

Praise our God,
all you his servants,
you who fear him,
small and great.
How does the content of your worship letter compare with these worship words from Revelation?

All verses are quoted from the ESV.
