[I'm finally putting up some seminar notes from EC/ San Diego]
If theology is really the mental technology to connect the story of God to the story of us, what happens to theology when the story of us changes? If we stop doing theology, we have stopped theological reflection.
“Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun. And don’t you dare change it!”
That’s classical systematic theology. It’s fine. It’s how it is. We don’t need to change it. But is a burger still a burger if you add teriyaki sauce? Is theology still theology if you answer new questions?
